In the lab, I am verifying that hrq1Δ and hrq1-K318A, HRQ1 mutants in S. cerevisiae, display interactions with single-gene deletion, decreased abundance by mRNA perturbation (DAmP), and/or temperature-sensitive (TS) mutations in genes linked to telomere maintenance through random spore analysis and other techniques. These experiments aim to provide further clarity on possible additional genetic pathways in which HRQ1 functions.
Outside of lab, I am an undergraduate student trying to fulfill my Biochemistry BS degree requirements while also on a pre-medical track. On campus, I am currently the Diversity & Outreach Director for the American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA), and I volunteer weekly as an English tutor and mentor at the Asian Culture Center (ACC). Among other hobbies, I enjoy baking, reading poetry, painting, and watching Studio Ghibli movies for the nth time.
